Exploring Golden Bay

Stroll on a spectacular surf beach... Climb down into a huge gaping cavemouth... Feel the spray from a postcard-perfect waterfall... Head up into alpine country and take a dip in a crystal clear lake... It's all here.

You can explore Golden Bay as long as you like. It's a beautiful place - and there's so much to see - you'll never see it all...

Tracks and Bushwalks.

Golden Bay is surrounded by three National Parks and is well catered to with a network of scenic bush walks and quality tracks These generally easy to moderate walks will lead you to a fantastically wide range of scenic attractions.

The famous Abel Tasman National Park is one of the best and most walked tracks in the world.

Kayaking

Kayaking is a popular way to explore the spectacular coastline, tranquil lagoons and stony riverbeds of Golden Bay.

Previous kayaking experience is not necessary. Fell free to use our kayaks and explore or we can recommend a local kayaking guide to show you the best spots.

Farewell Spit

A sweeping 35km sand spit which is a bird sanctuary and wetland of international significance. You can walk on the base of the spit, and there is an excellent 4WD safari along the spit to the lighthouse and bird habitats. We recommend The Original Farewell Spit Safari for your trip

Waikoropupu Springs

Known locally as the Pupu Springs. A fascinating water spring gushing up to 20 cubic metres per second. Some of the clearest water in the world.

Fishing Trips

Either out on Golden Bay or go fly fishing for trout with or without an experienced guide in some of the beautiful inland streams and rivers.

Pottery and Art

Other fascinating places of interest in Golden Bay include the many pottery and art studios throughout the region, including the international recognised Estuary Arts.
